Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the final renderings, scope of the masterplan and next steps in the process.
Background
In 2017, the City of Franklin Parks Department and FSSD jointly developed a concept master plan for the four schools located along New Hwy 96 West. The plan evaluated the possibilities of sharing facilities to meet both the needs of the FSSD students, athletes and the broader community. In August 2018, Lose and Associates were contracted to prepare a detailed master plan for the first project to be completed jointly by both entities. The total scope included proposed landscape architecture, architecture, and civil engineering services for the school site.
On May 20th, the consultant provided the same presentation to the FSSD Board of Directors during their budget meeting. The plan was met with favorable comments from all parties with two possible approaches presented. The first option would be to complete the project in phases which in the long run may be more expensive. The second option would be to complete the overall project and work with the City to develop a contract to begin construction design. The second option was the consensus from the school board.
