Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the current action items of the Civil War Historical Commission (CWHC).
Background
Established in 2010, the CWHC services as an advisory body to the HOMA and City Administrator in the identification, preservation, interpretation, maintenance, and recognition of battlefields and sites related to all aspects of Civil War history within the City of Franklin. After undertaking a strategic planning session in 2018, the CWHC developed three subcommittees-Historic Cemeteries, Public Outreach & Interpretation, and Wayfinding Signage. The corresponding presentation outlines the current activities of the subcommittees.
