Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) information on the TBI’s decision to outsource a number of Sexual Assault Kits (SAKs) to an accredited private laboratory for Forensic Biology testing.
Background
This outsourced testing should provide more timely results for currently submitted cases, reduce the backlog of untested cases at the TBI Crime Laboratories, and improve the ability to serve future cases
Financial Impact
There is no cost to the City of Franklin for this service.
