Public Safety Targeted Market Adjustments - FY 2020

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning a proposal to enhance targeted positions within the Public Safety Departments.

Background

The City of Franklin last conducted a market analysis of all positions three fiscal years ago. While a full review is ongoing for recommendations to be brought to the BOMA in May with the FY 2021 budget, the City has experienced increasing difficulties in recruiting and retaining entry level law enforcement personnel and paramedics. The pressing need to remain competitive in these targeted positions requires staff to bring forward a wage enhancement proposal before the full market study will be completed. This proposal, to be explained in greater detail at the Budget & Finance Committee meeting, will increase salaries for certain Public Safety personnel.

A presentation will be added to this item and distributed at the meeting.

Financial Impact

There will be a financial impact beginning this fiscal year (FY 2020) and beyond. This will be detailed at the meeting.

Recommendation

rec
