body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning changes to Title 8, Chapter 1 of the Franklin Municipal Code based on updated regulations from the Tennessee Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC) and general housekeeping changes.

Background

On March 18th of this year, the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee approved changes to Tennessee Code Annotated Sections 57-3-213(d) and 57-3-818(c).  These two changes delete the residency requirement of a retail liquor store applicant and delete the requirement for the annual renewal process of the certificate.  These changes were effective as of August 1, 2019.

The City of Franklin Municipal Code now needs to be changed to reflect these legislative revisions.

Financial Impact

There is not a financial impact.
