Contract 2019-0183 with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for Wildlife Management Services at the Sanitation and Environmental Services (SES) Transfer Station

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning wildlife management services provided by the USDA.

Background

The SES transfer station and the neighboring properties have various sources that attract scavengers.  The black vulture and turkey vulture population in these areas have grown to a nuisance level.  The USDA Wildlife Services will use trapping and harassment techniques to reduce the local population that has been causing issues at the Transfer Station and the Fire Training Center.

Financial Impact

The contract value is $4,500. This expense will be absorbed within the SES operating budget.
