title

Agreement for Limited Access to Local Control for FirstNet (COF Contract 2018-0165) with AT&T Corp.

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) the City of Franklin Fire Department maintaining a valid membership roster for AT&T FirstNet, so vetted public safety/first responder members may enroll, as a requirement of the federal law which enabled the creation of the public safety wireless network.

Background

After approval, individual members have the option of individually subscribing at their costs for wireless service with AT&T FirstNet. The benefit of accessing FirstNet is that it gives priority to public safety users during periods of high network demand, such as during a disaster, allowing more reliable communications for mission-critical communications.

Financial Impact

There is no financial impact to the City of Franklin.

Recommendation

The City Administrator approved this no cost agreement under authority granted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
