Purpose
The purpose of this procurement is to purchase 129 body-worn cameras and related software, hardware and services for the Police Department.
Background
The Police Department evaluated multiple brands of body-worn cameras in 2017 and has concluded that the Axon brand will best meet its needs. Pricing for the Axon brand is available to the City by means of the National IPA cooperative purchasing arrangement.
Financial Impact
The total value of the purchase would be $733,147.44 over five years including $217,483.44 in the first year and $128,916 per year in years two through five. The Police Department budget for fiscal year 2018 allocates $253,750.00 out of the General Fund for the purchase of body-worn cameras. The amount quoted by Axon for year one is $36,266.56 (14%) under budget for FY2018.
