Agreement for the transfer of ownership of two canines from the City to Williamson County (Contract No. 2017-0299)

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to report execution of an agreement for the transfer of ownership of two canines used by the City for law enforcement from the City to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Background

The Franklin Police Department recently discontinued its K-9 program and therefore has no foreseeable need for the two canines in service.  After considering its options, the Police Department asked the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office if it would be interested in the dogs.  The Sheriff’s Office responded in the affirmative.

Financial Impact

The agreement as executed indicates an amount of $6,500 per dog, for a total of $13,000, to be paid to the City by Williamson County.  This amount has now been received and was allocated to the City’s Drug Fund.
