body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to forward to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) that approval on behalf of the Board was given to enter into a Professional Services Agreement with Collier Engineering Co. Inc for work needed on the future COF Fire Station Seven. [$ 3,000.00].

Background

The City of Franklin has been in discussions with Williamson County regarding the placement of Fire Station 7 on the east side of I-65. Currently, the City has a fully staffed temporary facility on a portion of property on the Williamson County AG Complex. The city has maintained this station since the first part of 2015. An agreement was reached with Williamson County to dedicate property at the southern end of the Ag Center site for a permanent Fire Station 7.  As a part of this agreement the City is extending sanitary sewer service to the Ag Center complex.  A professional services agreement was developed with Collier Engineering for soil borings to analyze the site for preparation and planning for the construction of the Fire Station building, driveway, and parking.  These engineering services will also help with site and road development regarding foundation systems, drainage and determination if undermined soil is suitable for replacement and or compaction for roads and building pads.

Financial Impact

The project amounted to a do not exceed amount of $ 3,000 and is being funded out of the current fiscal budget and site design funding.

Recommendation

Request for approval of services so that site engineers can start the work of site design.
