Discussion Concerning the West Main Street Pedestrian Improvements Project (North Petway Street to 11th Ave South)

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning needed pedestrian improvements on West Main Street.

Background

West Main Street (North Petway Street to 11th Ave South) does not have any pedestrian facilities making it difficult and unsafe for pedestrians to cross the existing bridge located over West Main Branch.  The proposed project would include upgrades to the existing box culvert, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm infrastructure and utility relocations to accommodate the project.

Financial Impact

The total estimated project cost is $2,946,750.  The attached CIP Sheet provides a schedule and summary of funding sources needed to accommodate the project.

Recommendation

rec

No Recommendation.  This project should be included in the next round of CIP discussions and considered for funding by the full Board.
