body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the strategic plan recently developed by the Franklin Fire Department.

Background

During 2017, the Franklin Fire Department developed its first strategic plan.  The department recognized the need for a long-term planning process that is designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.  The goals and strategies contained in the Fire Department Strategic Plan is the result of an extensive self-assessment conducted by multiple, intra-departmental committees.  The result of this broad-based process is 66 recommendations focusing on a wide variety of topics including the establishment of needed policies, procedures, guidelines; ensuring a competitive, equitable compensation plan is in place; and producing a standard of coverage document.

Financial Impact

There is no direct, immediate financial impact associated with the Fire Department’s strategic plan.

Recommendation

No action is required by the Board.
