body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA)  that approval was given on behalf of the board to install cabling for proper synchronization of the visual fire alarm system within City Hall. [$ 2,500.00]

Background

During a routine inspection of the fire alarm system within City Hall, it was determined that the strobe warning system was not synchronized and could cause a health problem to some. Light flashes or off-timed strobes have been known to cause severe headaches and or seizures in persons that could result in hospitalization. It was determined after discussions with Fire and Safety personnel that it was a needed repair due to the many citizens that venture into City Hall.

Financial Impact

The project amounted to a total cost of $2,500 and will be funded through the facilities budget

Recommendation

Staff recommends services have been rendered at this time due to it being considered a safety concern within City Hall.
