Discussion Concerning a Future Sidewalk Gap on Hillsboro Road
body

Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning a future sidewalk gap on Hillsboro Road.

Background
The Phase 2 Hillsboro Road Improvements Project construction contract was awarded to Eutaw Construction Company, Inc. on March 8, 2016, in the amount of $11,995,005.13. The current contract completion date is November 22, 2017. When completed there will be a 1,100 LF sidewalk gap (see attached exhibit) on the east side of Hillsboro Road. This "gap" is a result of coordination between the Mack Hatcher Project and Hillsboro Road Project. The two projects will ultimately connect about 620LF north of Claude Yates Drive. Currently the city and state are working toward a February bidding date for the Mack Hatcher Project. We hope to see construction start in the spring / early summer of 2018. Once construction starts the contractor will determine how to phase the project and may remove the temporary sidewalk at any time during construction of the Mack Hatcher Project

Financial Impact
