Update on Downtown Parking Capacity and Management Study (COF Contract No. 2016-0230)y

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the current status of the Downtown Parking Capacity and Management Study.

Background

On August 9, 2016, the BOMA approved a professional services agreement (COF Contract No. 2016-0230) with Volkert, Inc. for the Downtown Parking Capacity and Management Study.  The Volkert team has worked closely with City staff to determine the existing parking inventory and projected future parking needs in the downtown area.  Several public and stakeholder meetings have been held to help the project team understand parking in downtown Franklin.

At this point in the study, City staff and the team at Volkert would like to provide the BOMA with a status update, including:

                     Existing Parking Supply and Demand,

Projected Future Land Use in the Downtown Area, and

                     Projected Parking Demand and Need,

Ultimately, the project team will use this data to identify short, mid, and long-term improvements and policy changes that the City may utilize to address parking needs in the downtown area.
