Purpose
The purpose of this procurement is to purchase Westlaw online legal research subscription for use by the City’s Law Department.
Background
The Law Department has been utilizing the Westlaw online legal research subscription under a previous arrangement. Following review and consideration of options available, the Law Department has recommended the continued usage of the Westlaw online legal research subscription under this new arrangement.
Financial Impact
Pricing under this new arrangement is offered by the service provider for three years. However, the Law Department intends to utilize the subscription for two years only and then to enter into another arrangement. Pricing established by this new arrangement is $826.60 per month ($9,919.20 per year) during the first year and $843.13 per month ($10,117.58 per year) during the second year. The Law Department budget for fiscal year 2017 allocates $13,250 out of the General Fund for the purchase of publications including electronic subscriptions.

Staff recommends that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen acknowledge receipt of this report of execution for the City of Contract No. 2016-0225, an order form with Thomson Reuters for Westlaw online legal research subscription.
