body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the requested contract extension between The City of Franklin and Middle Tennessee State University until December 31, 2016.

Background

In 2016, the City entered into an agreement with Middle Tennessee State University to design and fabricate (10) ten interpretive markers for the Carter’s Hill battlefield site. This contract was for a matched sum not to exceed $35,000 that would be reimbursed to the City of Franklin upon completion of the project. The City’s match is being met through in-kind labor. The initial term of the contract was from May 25, 2016, until September 30, 2016. As of August 2016, staff is working toward sign development under the existing contract.

Financial Impact

Middle Tennessee State University is requesting the City of Franklin extend the existing contract until December 31, 2016. This will allow for the development, fabrication, and installation of the signs to take place under the existing contract. The maximum amount eligible for reimbursement is $35,000.
