Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend approval of Resolution 2014-50, A Resolution to Approve the Preliminary Design and authorize Staff to Proceed with Final Design, Right-of-Way Acquisition and Construction Bidding Phase for the 100-Block Battle Avenue Drainage Improvements Project.

Background
On June 10, 2014, City staff gave a presentation outlining the preliminary design of the 100-Block Battle Avenue Drainage Improvements Project. During this presentation, multiple concerns were brought up about the design. Staff was asked to hold a few additional project meetings with the neighborhood to ensure that we had public support for the project prior to moving forward with Final Design, Right-of-Way Acquisition and Construction.

Following the June 10th work session, staff met with multiple residents to gathering input on what types of questions and/or concerns would need to be addressed. On August 5, 2014, a neighborhood pubic meeting was held at City Hall, where most of the affected residents attended. The majority of attendees were in favor of the project. On August 8, 2014, a survey letter and questionnaire was sent to the neighborhood residents and property owners to gather more information.
