Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning Resolution 2019-103.
Background
The intersection of SR-96 West and Westhaven Boulevard/Old Charlotte Pike meets the required MUTCD warrants for a traffic signal. This location is also included in the City’s traffic signal masterplan within Connect Franklin: A Comprehensive Transportation Network Plan.
On September 17, 2019, the City received seals bids for the construction of this project. After review of the submitted bids, staff recommends award of the construction contract to the low bidder, Sessions Paving Company, with a bid amount of $591,322.75.
Financial Impact
Engineering with work with Finance and Administration to determine the most appropriate source of funding for this project. Because this location is included in the City’s traffic signal masterplan, as contained within Connect Franklin, this project may utilize Road Impact Fee Funds.
