COF Contract No. 2019-0300 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Project Grant between the City of Franklin and the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry.

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning a new grant contract for a Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Project (TAEP) grant between the City of Franklin and the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry for the planting of trees at the Water Treatment Plant on Lewisburg Pike in Franklin, TN.

Background

The Tennessee Urban Forestry Council was administering the 2019 TAEP grants. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen was notified of the original contract (COF Contract No. 2019-0253) on August 27, 2019. Since that time, the administration of the grant has changed, and the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry will be administering the grant. Given such change, a new grant contract has been created, and the former contract, COF Contract No. 2019-0253 has been cancelled. The grant period will still begin on November 1, 2019 and continue until April 30, 2019. The Parks Department will be planting approximately two hundred eighty-six trees (286) at the Water Treatment Plant located on Lewisburg Pike.

Financial Impact

This is a fifty/fifty (50/50) matching grant totaling Thirty-Eight Thousand Seven Hundred One Dollars ($38,701.00). The TAEP will provide Nineteen Thousand Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($19,350.00); the City’s match will be allocated from Tree Bank Funds.
