body
Purpose
NIGP - The Institute for Public Procurement has once again asked its member agencies to recognize March as Procurement Month.
Background
The City of Franklin is a member agency of NIGP. Since 1944, NIGP has been developing, supporting and promoting the public procurement profession. Through educational and research programs, professional support and technical services, member agencies reap the benefits of improved operating efficiency and expanded organizational capacity. Over 16,000 professionals from more than 3,000 local, state, provincial and federal government contracting agencies across the United States, Canada and countries outside of North America currently gain value through access to its resources. NIGP requires its members to subscribe to the NIGP code of ethics, promotes values, guiding principles and best practices in the field of public procurement, and offers its members professional development in a variety of forms.
A successful procurement function depends in large part upon the support and cooperation of numerous individuals. At the City of Franklin, we use Procurement Month to recognize those who contribute to the City's procurement function, especially the City's elected and appointed officials, department heads, departmental purchasing agents, Engineering, Facilities and Purchasing staff, and, critically, the vendor community.
Financial Impact
