Presentation of FranklinForwards Open Data Website

body

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the official launch of performance.franklintn.gov - the City of Franklin’s first site dedicated to Open Data and focusing on the City’s Strategic Plan - FranklinForward.

Background

Over the course of the last year, City staff has been hard at work integrating the City’s first Strategic Plan - FranklinForward - into daily operations and the annual budget. Simultaneous to those efforts, staff has also developed a new performance based website which allows citizens, elected officials, businesses and staff alike to monitor the City’s progress on the themes, sub-themes and goals laid forth within FranklinForward. First presented to the BOMA in November 2015, that site will formally launch on March 22 at the Work Session. Its address is:

<https://performance.franklintn.gov/>

It is hoped that this site is just the beginning of allowing Franklin’s citizens access to the same performance data which staff uses to assess and manage the City.

Financial Impact

There is no direct financial impact from consideration of this item; however, this was made possible through BOMA approval of Contract No. 2014-0349. The FY 2016 cost of this contract is $24,989, budgeted under 110-82510-45900.
