Consideration of Resolution No. 2014-76, A Resolution Rejecting all Bids for the Construction of the North Petway Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project (COF Contract No. 2014-0152) (11/12/14 CIC 3-0).
body
Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to recommend that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) reject the bid submitted for the North Petway Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project (COF 2014-0152).
Background
This project has been identified by City of Franklin staff for rehabilitation due to the condition of the existing sanitary sewer lines. The design for the project was approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) at the October 23, 2012 meeting. The bids for the project were opened on August 6, 2014 at 9:00 am with only one contractor submitting a bid.
Financial Impact
A bid from Heit Kamp was submitted in the amount of $414,561.75. This amount exceeds the original cost estimate and is not competitive with only one bid.
Recommendation
Staff recommends to reject the bid from Heit Kamp and make this project the first to be installed when the Annual Contract for Sewer Rehabilitation is bid out.
