Purpose
The purpose of this contract is to continue with the existing arrangement with Thomson Reuters for Westlaw online legal research for use by the City’s Law Department.
Background
The Law Department has been utilizing the Westlaw online legal research subscription under previous arrangements for several years and has integrated its litigation files into the Case Notebook program. Following review and consideration of options available, the Law Department has recommended the continued usage of the Westlaw online legal research subscription.
Financial Impact
Pricing under this new arrangement is offered by the service provider for three years. Pricing established by this new arrangement is $946.01 per month ($11,352.12 per year) during the first year and will increase by 2% at $964.93 per month ($11,579.16 per year) during the second year. The Law Department budget for fiscal year 2019 allocates $20,730.00 out of the General Fund for the purchase of publications including electronic subscriptions.
