Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the award of COF Contract 2018-0259 to Southland Constructors Inc. for the construction of the City of Franklin's Fire Station 7, to be located at 911 Brunacini Way in the amount of $6,671,000.00. The construction agreement is for construction of the City of Franklin's prototypical fire hall design and includes a Williamson County EMS wing along with road construction, additional grading, and requested additional parking.

Background
As the City of Franklin continues to grow, the need to build additional fire stations has been identified in order to provide citizens with a high level of fire protection and emergency medical response. The City's approved 2017-2026 Capital Investment Program (CIP) includes the construction of a new fire station in the I-65 - Peytonsville Road Corridor, Fire Station 7. Both Fire Station 8 (Westhaven) and Fire Station 7 (Southeast Franklin) were designed together as a part of the creation of a prototypical fire station design. The design is anticipated to be a cost effective, efficient way to meet the needs of our growing community. Construction of Fire Station 7 in southeast Franklin is budgeted in Fiscal Year 2019 with funding for the reminder of the project to be included in FY 2020.
