Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning COF Contract No. 2019-0166 with MTEMC.
Background
The construction of the SR-96 West Multi-Use Trail, between Vera Valley Drive and 5TH Avenue North, will require the relocation of MTEMC infrastructure. As is typical with utility relocations, the utility provider funds the relocation of any conflicting utilities that are within the existing right-of-way. The City or State is then responsible for the cost to relocated utilities outside of existing right-of-way. With this project, the cost split for relocation of electrical infrastructure is 81.8% to MTEMC and 18.2% to the City. The City’s estimated cost amounts to $7,186.98. While the percentage of the cost split should not change, the actual amount may change due to actual construction costs.
Financial Impact
The current estimated financial impact to the City is $7,186.98. However, this cost may change due to actual construction costs. This expense will be incorporated into the overall project budget.
Recommendation
This contract was approved by the City Administrator under authority granted by the BOMA.
