Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning Resolution 2015-44 to award the construction contract for the SR 96 West Sidewalk Project to Civil Constructors, LLC.
Background
On March 13, 2014, the BOMA approved Resolution 2014-13, which included $108,220 for the design and construction of sidewalks along Highway 96 West (SR-96W). The initial concept was for the construction of a 5’ sidewalk from Downs Boulevard to Freedom Middle School. After public meetings and further discussion with the BOMA, the decision was made to proceed with a 10-foot wide multi-use trail, from Vintage Grove Lane to Vera Valley Drive, for a project length of approximately 3,000 linear feet. The updated engineering cost estimate for this project was $632,160.
On July 8, 2015, the City received sealed bids for the construction of this project and publicly read them aloud. Civil Constructors, LLC, with a bid amount of $596,116.10, was the apparent low bidder.
Financial Impact
Funding for this project will be out of the Capital General Obligation Bonds.
