Background
The Tennessee Main Street Program is a program of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development which provides assistance to communities in revitalizing their downtown and central business districts.  Since its founding in 1984, the Downtown Franklin Association has spearheaded the revitalization of Franklin's historic downtown according to the four-point program of the National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
