Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning an agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey, United States Department of Interior for the operation and maintenance of stream gaging stations.
Background
The current agreement between the City of Franklin and the U.S. Geological Survey for continuation of the operation of gaging stations expires on September 30, 2016. This joint funding agreement is for the continuation of this project for the period of October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. The total cost for operating the gaging stations during this period will be $81,000 with the City of Franklin’s share being $43,575. The streamflow gaging stations help for the purposes of flood forecasting and warning, managing water and maintaining instream flow levels for threatened and endangered species.
Financial Impact
$43,575 to paid out of the approved Engineering Department’s storm water budget
