Consideration Of Expansion Of The Automatic Aid Agreement With The City Of Brentwood Fire Department (COF Contract No. 2015-0110) (05-26-15 WS).

body
Purpose
The purpose of this agreement is to expand the automatic aid boundaries between the City of Franklin and the City of Brentwood Fire Departments for automatic mutual aid and to authorize the City Administrator/City Manager of both jurisdictions to mutually adopt future changes deemed in the best interest of both entities.

Background
In June of 2009, an agreement was entered into by the City of Franklin and the City of Brentwood for automatic aid in a specific defined region for reported structure fires. In May 2011, the agreement was revised to enlarge the area within the City of Franklin for which Brentwood Fire Department would provide additional assistance. Brentwood has since identified several additional areas where automatic aid would be beneficial to them which is outlined in the agreement.
To date, we have provided automatic aid to Brentwood on 18 occasions and received automatic aid on 43 occasions. The current size of Brentwood's auto-aid area (where Franklin provides assistance) is 2.27 square miles. This agreement increases that area to 3.61 square miles. In contrast, Franklin's auto-aid area covers 6.83 square miles.

Financial Impact
There would be no financial impact to either city due to reciprocating service.
