Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning a requested date change for Viva la Diva 5K/10K sponsored by Fifty Forward.

 

Background

On April 28, 2015, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved an Event Permit for November 14, 2015 for the Viva la Diva 5K/10K Race sponsored by Fifty Forward.  The applicant has since learned of a largely attended 5K race in Nashville on November 14th which will conflict with their event.  Fifty Forward is requesting a date change to November 21, 2015 for their event.  This change will allow them to utilize their preferred race management company (which is unavailable on the 14th due to a conflict with the other race) as well as continue to tap into runners and running clubs who have already committed to the Nashville event.

 

Recommendation

 

Staff recommends approval of this date change.  All previous conditions will remain:

 

                     Applicant will provide a $1,000 refundable damage deposit to City prior to event.

 

                     Applicant will notify affected neighborhoods (both residential and commercial) of new date.

 

                     Risk Management:

o                     Applicant will provide certificate of insurance naming the City as additional insured.

 

                     Police Department:

o                     Applicant will hire the recommended number Franklin Police Officers to provide traffic control.

 

                     Building & Neighborhood Services Department:

o                     Electrical permit may be required.

 

                     Sanitation and Environmental Services Department:

o                     Volunteers will provide cleanup along the route and at water stations.

o                     Applicant will meet with department to determine if assistance needed at Nissan.
