body
Purpose
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the rescinding of previously allocated funds for the Parks Department to submit a grant application to the Baseball Tomorrow Fund.
Background
In March the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved Resolution No. 2019-24 authorizing the Parks Department to submit a grant application to the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. The Resolution also authorized the allocation of forty thousand dollars ($40,000) to be used as a match for the grant. The Parks Department submitted a grant application on March 29, 2019. After the submittal, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund entered a restructuring phase, and they were not going to consider the most recent round of applications. They advised to check back for information each month, but as of August 1, 2019 they had not reopened the application process. At this time, it would be impossible for the Parks Department to complete the work in the timeline it would require.
Financial Impact
The Parks Department will no longer need the forty thousand-dollar ($40,000) allocation for the Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant match.
