Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide a status update to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the Major Thoroughfare Plan - A Comprehensive Transportation Network Approach.
Background
The City of Franklin is one of the fastest growing communities in the state and has experienced continual growth and development over the past 25 years. This growth pattern is expected to continue over the next several years placing increasing demands on the City's transportation network. The 2014 Major Thoroughfare Plan will serve as a guide for future multimodal transportation in the City of Franklin. As part of this plan City staff is proposing to develop recommendations through year 2034. In March of 2014 the BOMA approved a professional services agreement with CHA Consulting, Inc in an amount not to exceed $328,544.00 to update the Major Thoroughfare Plan. In September 2014 the BOMA approved Amendment Number 1 in an amount not to exceed $124,900 to update the existing character areas with an emphasis on coordinating with the Major Thoroughfare Plan. At this time Staff would like to provide a short presentation and status update to the BOMA.
