Discussion of the Sidewalk/Multiuse Trail Project along the north side of New Highway 96 West (SR-96W) and the Sidewalk Project along the north side of Murfreesboro Road (SR-96)

Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning funding for sidewalk or multiuse trail along the north side of New Highway 96 West (SR-96W) and sidewalk along the north side of Murfreesboro Road (SR-96).
Background
As part of Resolution 2014-13, A Resolution to Adopt the Funding Plan for the FYI 2014-2018 CIP (Capital Investment Program), the Board approved $108,220 for a sidewalk project from Vera Valley Drive to the intersection of Downs Boulevard along New Highway 96 West (SR-96W) and $550,300 for a sidewalk project along Murfreesboro Road (SR-96), from Pinkerton Park to Mack Hatcher Parkway. At this point, the design for the New Highway 96 West multiuse trail is 100% complete and ready for permits; the sidewalk design for Murfreesboro Road is also nearing completion. Below is a breakdown of the estimated cost:

Financial Impact
The BOMA approved $150,000 for improvements to Aspen Grove Drive & Seaboard Lane and $250,000 for signal upgrades along Murfreesboro Road (SR-96) as a part of the FY 2014-2015 TOC Budget. These funds could be shifted to the sidewalk projects to help fund the BOMA's priority projects. Below is a breakdown of available funding.
