Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to outline recommendations for the Front Street Craft Beer Celebration. 

 

Background

The Westhaven Foundation has requested street closures for their Front Street Craft Beer Celebration event scheduled for October 3, 2015.  This is the second year for the event but the first request for street closures.  The event includes beer tasting, live music, and food trucks. 

 

For this year’s event, the organizers are requesting the closure of Front Street between Whitman Road and Westhaven Blvd.  Estimated attendance for the event is 800.

 

Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the event application with the following recommendations:

 

                     Applicant will provide a $1,000 refundable damage deposit to City prior to event.

 

                     Applicant will provide a Good Neighbor letter which will be distributed to affected neighborhoods.

 

                     Advertise and staff a logical “safe ride” initiative

 

                     Risk Management:

o                     Applicant will provide certificate of insurance with liquor liability naming the City as additional insured.

 

                     Police Department:

o                     Applicant will work with the Police Department to determine number of officers needed for traffic control and/or security.

o                     Pursuant to Franklin Municipal Code Section 11-403(3), amplified sound will only be permitted in the areas indicated on the application.

 

                     Fire Department

o                     Alleyways must remain accessible for emergency vehicles throughout the event.

o                     Contact Franklin Fire Department for Tent and event inspections.

 

                     Sanitation and Environmental Services Department:

o                     Dumpsters are available for a cost of $85 each.

o                     Applicant will provide volunteers for clean-up.
