Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning Ordinance 2019-44.

 

Background

On July 10, 2018, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved Ordinance 2018-27, “An Ordinance to Implement Time Restricted Parking Within the Core Commercial / Retail historic Downtown Area”.  On October 18, 2019, City staff received a petition to implement time restricted parking along both sides of 2nd Avenue North between East Main Street and Bridge Street.  Out of 11 properties along this section of 2nd Avenue North, 9 property owners signed a petition to establish 2-hour parking along both sides of 2nd Avenue North between East Main Street and Bridge Street.

 

Financial Impact

Minor cost associated with pavement markings and signage will be paid out of Street Departments operating budget.
