body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is a request for Stantec Consulting to perform macroinvertebrate stream sample sorting, identification, data reduction, and report.

Background

As per the City of Franklin’s NPDES MS4 permit, the City is required to perform macroinvertebrate sampling of its stream and rivers to assess the water quality conditions present. The City samples 10-16 streams annually including the Harpeth River depending on flow conditions. These results are then reported to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation annually. The City also uses this data to target priority watersheds for public education, illicit discharge monitoring, construction site compliance, and to drive decision making processes related to Stormwater CIP projects. Stantec consulting will perform the sorting, taxonomic identification, data reduction, and provide City staff with a report of findings and classification of water quality indices within each watershed.

Financial Impact

Stantec consulting will paid seven thousand seven hundred eighty and no/100 dollars ($7,780.00) out of the Engineering Department Stormwater Budget.

Recommendation

This was approved under the City Administrator’s authority as provided by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
