body

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning Ordinance 2018-52.

Background

City staff was asked by a resident to investigate parking concerns on 7th Avenue North Between West Main Street and Fair Street.  The current pavement width is between 30’-32’.  To accommodate parking on both sides of the street, the pavement width needs to be a minimum of 38’ (2~11’ travel lanes and 2~8’ parking lanes).  Staff proposes to implement a new pavement marking plan and prohibit parking on the northeast side of the roadway as shown in the attached exhibit.

Financial Impact

The cost would be less than $5,000 to perform this work and would be paid out of the Street Department’s annual budget.

Recommendation

rec

Staff recommends approval of Ordinance 2018-52.
