Purpose
The purpose of this memo is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the adoption of the 2018 International Mechanical Code. This code is one of the group of publications under consideration. The construction and safety publications below meet the requirements of the State Fire Marshal's Office for exempt jurisdictions to have adopted certain publications within 7 years of the most current edition.

* Ordinance 2018-15 International Plumbing Code 2012 --> 2018
* Ordinance 2018-16 International Mechanical Code 2012--> 2018
* Ordinance 2018-18 International Fuel Gas Code 2012 --> 2018
* Ordinance 2018-19 NFPA 70 National Electric Code 2011--> 2017
* Ordinance 2018-21 ICC A117.1-2017 Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities 2009 --> 2017
* Ordinance 2018-22 International Energy Conservation Code 2009 --> 2018
* Ordinance 2018-24 International Fire Code 2012 --> 2018
Reasons for change:
* The City of Franklin is an exempt jurisdiction with a Residential program, a Commercial program, and an Electrical program and is granted authority by the State of Tennessee to issue permits and conduct inspections in those areas.
