body

Purpose

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information to the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) concerning the City’s conditional acceptance of partial donation by Barry Alexander Automotive, LLC.

Background

Related to Contract No. 2018-0152, in 2013, Harpeth Motorsports, a subsidiary of Barry Alexander Automotive, LLC, dissolved its business of providing parts and service for the upfitting of emergency vehicles.  The inventory, which is the subject of this agreement, are the emergency vehicle parts remaining from its prior business.  Following consideration of the feasibility of using the parts in the future for both the Police Department and Fleet Department, the Police Department has recommended accepting this donation.  The acceptance of the partial portion of the inventory is required due to a new tenant leasing the Donor’s building.

Financial Impact

This donation agreement is of no cost to the City, and imposes no operational obligations on the City.

Recommendation

rec

Staff recommends that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen acknowledge that the City Administrator entered into a letter of intent related to this donation under authority grant by BOMA.
